Marketing Associate
A hands-on lead role for our Marketing Operations team. Run campaigns, set the quality bar and help the team go from AI-native to AI-led.
Who is Understory?
Understory makes it easy to run an experience business that connects humans and creates memories. We build the operating system for experience creators, from kayaking tours to cooking classes, and the marketing products that help them grow: ads, reviews and websites, powered by the same data that runs their bookings. When our creators grow, we grow with them.
We recently raised a €12M Series A, serve 1000+ customers across Europe and are around 80 people in Aarhus, Copenhagen and Barcelona. You'll learn faster here than almost anywhere else, because the challenges are real and the pace is high, and the right people get a lot of trust and ownership.
The team
Marketing Operations is part of our Product organization and runs our marketing products for our customers. Today that is Meta Ads and Google Ads, and more products are on the way. The team is AI-native today: agents and in-house tools produce and optimize campaigns, and people steer, check and improve them. The next step for Marketing Operations is to become AI-led, raising both the quality and the volume of what we produce on a clear playbook everyone works from. The team is three people today and growing.
About the role
This is an entry-level role for someone early in their career, for example fresh out of university or just getting started. You don't need prior marketing experience. You need to be sharp, structured and ready to learn fast.
As a Marketing Associate you help deliver our marketing products to customers, reliably and to a high standard. You work with templates, SOPs and a shared task queue, and our AI tools and agents do much of the production. You steer, check and finish the work so campaigns go live on time and with consistent quality. We train you in the tools and workflows, and you help improve them as part of a team that relies on each other.
What you'll do
Create and quality-check ad assets using our templates, AI tools and standards
Pick up and complete customer requests in our Operator UI, the team's shared task queue
Launch approved campaigns on the agreed date and handle customer revisions quickly
Support weekly performance reviews for your customers using our standard method
Work closely with your team and Customer Success, and say early when something blocks delivery
Flag what slows you down or causes rework, so the team and Product can fix it
What success looks like
In your first 3 months, you will:
Learn our templates, tools and workflows inside out
Deliver ads with minimal rework
Handle customer requests reliably and on time
Keep your task status accurate so the team can always trust it
Handle your own customers end to end by month three
We think you'll thrive if…
You’re low ego, high agency and kind: you take initiative, make your colleagues' work easier, take feedback well and ask for help in time
You’re reliable and structured, with respect for deadlines and agreed processes
You care about your work: you finish what you start, and when something slips you say so early and help fix it
You have an eye for detail and care about delivering work that is finished, correct and ready to go live
You’re curious and eager to learn new tools, including AI tools
You have full professional proficiency in English
It’s a plus if you…
Have experience with Canva or Figma
Are familiar with HubSpot or other marketing tools
Have a basic understanding of paid advertising
Have completed or are pursuing studies in a relevant field
Have had professional or academic exposure to marketing or operations
If you recognize yourself in most of this, but not all, we would still like to hear from you. We care most about how you think and how you work with people.
What it’s like to work at Understory
We are building the leading platform for experience businesses - and we approach that with the same energy and ambition as the people we serve.
At Understory, you’ll join a team that moves fast, thinks long-term, and takes pride in doing work that matters. We are product-minded, mission-driven, and serious about quality - whether that is in the product, the strategy, or how we work together.
